About ICNBI

The annual International Conference on Nano Bio Intelligence (ICNBI) brings together researchers working at the interface of nanotechnology, biology and intelligent systems.

Since its inception, ICNBI has developed into an interdisciplinary forum for scientific exchange, attracting participants from universities, research institutes and industry across Australia and internationally.

The conference is organised by a multidisciplinary committee involving researchers from institutions including the University of Adelaide, the University of Technology Sydney and the University of Queensland with support from Exploration, a Wiley multidisciplinary science and technology journal.

Previous ICNBI meetings have welcomed more than 150 participants each year, with invited experts and delegates from Australia, China, the United States, German, Canada, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, New Zealand and other countries.

ICNBI is designed not only to present emerging research, but also to promote direct scientific discussion across disciplines and career stages. Its programme spans nanotechnology, bioengineering and intelligent systems, with topics including nanomedicine, advanced diagnostics, neurodegeneration, cancer, next-generation drug delivery, functional materials, smart materials, energy technologies and systemic health.

Special Events

A distinctive component of ICNBI is its programme of special events.

Previous Meet the Editors sessions have featured editors from Nature Reviews, Advanced Materials, ACS Sensors, Exploration and iDiscovery, providing participants with opportunities to discuss journal scope, manuscript positioning, interdisciplinary communication and editorial expectations.

The conference also includes dedicated Early Career Researcher (ECR) and Higher Degree Research (HDR) Forums, presentation awards and opportunities for emerging researchers to receive feedback and build professional networks.

Scientific exchange is complemented by informal networking and community activities, including conference awards and a lucky red-wine draw. Together, these activities are intended to create an open and constructive environment in which rigorous discussion, new collaborations and long-term academic connections can develop.

This year’s conference continues that tradition through focused scientific sessions, editorial engagement and career-development activities.

A Warm Welcome to ICNBI

ICNBI Visual Identity

The new ICNBI visual identity combines the letters “N”, “B” and “I” with scientific symbols representing the central themes of both the conference and its associated academic society. The accompanying lettering was custom-redesigned rather than reproduced from a proprietary commercial typeface. The “N” incorporates imagery associated with nanoscale science and engineering; the “B” features biological motifs, including DNA and cellular or molecular elements; and the “I” integrates symbols of global connectivity and intelligent technologies. Together, these elements visually convey the convergence of nano, bio and intelligence that defines ICNBI. ICNBI logo designed by Dr. Yang Liu at the organizing committee.
